Acticoat Flex is an advanced wound dressing designed with a flexible, nanocrystalline silver-coated polyester weave. It is tailored for the management of complex wounds where infection control and accelerated healing are essential. The dressing gently conforms to both partial- and full-thickness wounds, ensuring optimal wound contact and antimicrobial performance. Acticoat Flex is also compatible as a primary wound contact layer for use with Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) systems, providing versatility in modern wound care applications.
Key Features & Benefits
-
Nanocrystalline Silver Technology: Provides rapid and sustained antimicrobial activity, effective within 30 minutes and lasting up to 3 or 7 days, depending on the variant (Flex 3 or Flex 7).
-
Exceptional Flexibility: Ultra-thin, stretchable design maintains close contact with even the most challenging wound contours, delivering consistent antimicrobial protection.
-
Open Weave Construction: Enhances fluid drainage, reducing the risk of wound maceration and supporting moist wound healing.
-
Compatible with NPWT: Works seamlessly with negative pressure wound therapy systems, making it suitable for advanced treatment protocols.
-
Moistening Options: Can be gently pre-moistened with sterile water or a suitable gel to activate silver release in low-exudate wounds.
-
Non-Adherent Design: Minimises discomfort and tissue trauma during dressing changes, as it does not adhere to the wound bed.
-
Versatile Usage: Ideal for burns, surgical wounds, donor and graft sites, pressure injuries, leg ulcers, diabetic ulcers, and wounds showing signs of infection.
-
Supports Antimicrobial Strategies: Helps control local microbial burden, potentially reducing the need for systemic antibiotics.
-
Multiple Sizes Available: Offered in an array of formats and dimensions to ensure optimal fit for a wide range of wound sizes and locations.
Application Guidance
-
Lay a single layer of the dressing directly onto the wound surface, taking care not to overstretch.
-
For deep or cavity wounds, loosely pack without overfilling the wound area.
-
Cover with a suitable secondary dressing based on clinical assessment and wound condition.
-
Dressing change frequency should reflect wound exudate levels and clinical judgement, with wear time up to 3 or 7 days as appropriate.
Cautions
-
Do not use on individuals with known silver sensitivity or in conjunction with oil-based products.
-
Remove prior to MRI scans or before radiation therapy involving the treated area.
-
Temporary skin discoloration may be observed during use.
