Sodium Chloride .9% 500ml

Sodium Chloride 0.9% 500ml (Normal Saline) is a sterile, isotonic intravenous solution containing 0.9 grams of sodium chloride per 100 ml of water. It is widely utilized in clinical settings for restoring fluid and electrolyte balance, as well as supporting hydration and serving as a delivery medium for intravenous medications and irrigation procedures.

• Intravenous fluid resuscitation in cases of dehydration, blood loss, or low blood volume

• Diluting and administering suitable injectable medications

• Priming intravenous lines or medical equipment during procedures such as hemodialysis and transfusions

• External irrigation for cleansing wounds, eyes, and nasal passages

Important Details:

• Composition: 0.9% sodium chloride (NaCl), equivalent to 9g/L, with 150 mmol sodium and 150 mmol chloride ions per liter

• Form: Available in 500 ml size (other sizes include 100 ml, 250 ml, and 1000 ml) for injection or external irrigation

• Storage: Store below 25°C and adhere to local storage recommendations

• Administration: Intended for intravenous use or external irrigation, and should only be administered by qualified healthcare professionals

• Precautions: Exercise caution in patients with cardiac or kidney conditions, edema, high blood pressure, or those on corticosteroid therapy. Overuse can result in fluid retention or disturbances in electrolyte balance.

• Note: Normal saline is not a suitable solvent for amphotericin B; a 5% dextrose (glucose) solution should be used instead.
